I have been a musician for most of my life and have always enjoyed it very much. However, it is kind of a loud way to express yourself, especially since drums are my primary instrument. Back in 1996 I decided to take up photography as a means of artistic expression that could be done any time of day without disturbing the neighbors.
It ended up becoming more than a hobby, it became a passion.
I chose photography because I have always enjoyed the way light interacted with my world. The way things would look different in the morning than they did in the afternoon. The way sunlight broke through the openings in clouds. The way colors were more saturated after a rain.
With photography, no matter what you aim your lens at, your subject is actually the light bouncing off that object. Photography was a way of capturing the light play that I saw around me. As I got better at it I learned to love manipulating light and creating new moods and looks.
